October 29th 2011 - Today marks the official launch of the Moving 2 Vancouver website! Based on our Facebook page (which serves as an online forum where people could share their experiences and provide advice for others who were interested in settling in Vancouver), we created www.moving2vancouver.ca.

The website is a comprehensive, on-line resource that provides useful and practical information to anyone planning on moving to Vancouver or who is already living in the city. Our mission is to help newcomers settle in and become successful in a new city. A big thank-you to everyone who offered their input into the development of the site. If you feel like we are missing anything, or feel like contributing in any way (e.g., content, photos, etc.), please contact us at info@moving2vancouver.ca

In April 2011, we set-up a Facebook page and since then, we have amassed members from over 52 different countries. The first phase of our project was focused on helping people to plan their move to Vancouver and get settled here.

What we’ve achieved so far:

• We’ve built an easily navigable website, packed with objective information to help people plan their trip and get settled in Vancouver;
• We’ve provided advice and assistance (i.e., resume and cover letter editing, useful job websites, etc.) to people looking for employment;
• We’ve connected many newcomers to individuals in Vancouver who can help them find work in their field; and most importantly,
• We’ve created an online  interactive network where nobody feels too far away from home.

As the website progresses, we will focus more of our attention on helping newcomers overcome a crucial obstacle – finding employment.
