Moving to Canada

Moving to Canada? You’ve found the perfect resource to guide you. Having emigrated from Ireland in 2008, I quickly realized that despite Canada being a country of immigrants, there was something missing. In March 2011, I dreamt of an information sharing platform where settled immigrants and newcomers could exchange advice.

What started with a simple Facebook page evolved into Moving2Vancouver.ca. Then, I began to dream bigger. What if newcomers to all parts of Canada have an information resource to facilitate their move? In July of last year, I decided to quit my job and start working on a support network for newcomers to all parts of Canada. After gathering a team of helpful people across the country, Moving2Canada.com was launched in Ireland at the Work Abroad Employment fair on October 6th. We were honoured to receive an invitation from Jason Kenney, Canada’s Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, to attend his welcome reception. He was extremely impressed with our project.

What does Moving2Canada do?
Moving2Canada is an online resource for jobseekers migrating to Canada. We provide newcomers with objective advice on all aspects of planning their move. We have built a network of over 9,000 professionals who have one thing in common — a desire to succeed in Canada. This network consists of support groups, employers, settled immigrants and prospective immigrants.

We are also a registered recruitment agency specializing in providing construction professionals and tradespeople to Canadian employers. This is how we pay the bills and fund our mission of providing free advice to all.

Why get excited?
Moving to Canada was the change that allowed me to explore new cultures and new terrain. A fresh start in a country of immigrants. You’re not alone when you immigrate to Canada, whether you arrive on a working holiday visa or relocate for careet purposes, so we have built this website to gather helpful people and create a support network.

Canada is also all about getting outdoors and exploring the beautiful countryside. Western Canada has it all, from barren plains of the Prairies and the tranquil beauty of the Rocky Mountains, to the scenic coast of British Columbia and the shores of the Great Lakes. You may not consider yourself the outdoorsy-type when you arrive, but this place will transform you as there is so much terrain to explore.

Join our network
Since starting this venture, we have been lucky enough to work with some amazing people who all share the same vision of helping others while building an international community. We are indebted to those who have helped build the website and create content for it.

This website belongs to everyone who contributes to help build an online community. Join our network today to stay connected with us. Moving to Canada is much easier when you have a support network around you. We hope that those who are moving to Canada will benefit from this website and then participate to help those who follow their steps. We’re confident that together we can continue to grow our international community and build something to be proud of in our adopted home.
